Volunteer Month
Most people are probably unaware that October is National Volunteer Month. At a time in our nation when jobs are scarce for many and nonprofits are feeling the economic hit more than most, many people have stepped up to the plate and are helping others. Instead of staying home and worrying, people are helping people. This change in attitude has had a positive effect on those that need help and those that are volunteering. Even after the economy picks up, which it will, and jobs become readily available, I hope this trend in volunteerism and helping others continues.
P.A.W.S. started as an all-volunteer run organization and continues to be primarily run by volunteers. Even though we now have staff consisting of the Executive Director, part-time Operations Associate and part-time Bookkeeper, we are only a force of three and our volunteers are many!
Sometimes we don't say it enough: Thank you!
Thank you to all of you that volunteer once a month to deliver pet food and supplies to over 300 people and their 400+ companion animals countywide. Thank you to the volunteers that divide food into easy to carry containers and package each food order. Thank you to those volunteers that inventory and rotate the food each month and go to local stores and pick up donated food. Thank you to those that visit each potential client, process applications and help each person through the process. Thank you to those volunteers that man the phones and comfort, advise and create relationships with those that call us, and those that file, label, and keep things in order at the office. Thank you to those volunteers that spend time in event booths and tables telling people about the mission of P.A.W.S. Thank you to those volunteer board, advisory and committee members who work to bring awareness, funding and best practices to P.A.W.S. and the communtiy we serve. Thank you to all of the volunteers at P.A.W.S.
We sometimes don't say it enough: Thank you.
**With over 550 clients and another 200+ waiting to become clients, we need your help. We can always use volunteer drivers to deliver food one Saturday a month (countywide we deliver to over 300 individuals), but we also need people during the week to help with the prep and post work. This sometimes takes some heavy lifters or those that don't mind getting their hands dirty.
