Sponsor a Pet 2010

The pet owners of San Diego County are in crisis, and due to the economic downward spiral companion animals are also suffering.
Suddenly not able to pay for veterinary care or emergency pet care, owners are losing their best friends either to euthanasia or to animal shelters.

Your tax-deductible donation between $20 and $500 goes directly to PAWS to help keep animals out of the shelter system and with the people who need their companionship!

You can even sponsor a companion animal in someone else's name to give a gift this season which will make a difference in everyone's life.

Read the stories of just a few of the companion animals PAWS helps and help make more stories like these a reality.

Brandy
My owner is a wheelchair bound World War II Veteran. He always worries about getting me out for a walk, so he has P.A.W.S. volunteers drop by to walk me.
Mae
About three years ago, my owner heard me crying and scratching through the wall; I had been abandoned in the apartment next door. She never thought she would like a dog, but she knew I needed someone. Now she can’t imagine life without me. Her caregiver kindly takes me for my daily walk and P.A.W.S. delivers food each month.
Stormy
My owner and I have lived together for seven years now. Her doctor recommended she adopt me from the shelter after her husband passed away to help overcome her loneliness. We spend all our time together. Next month we’ll celebrate her 87th Birthday.
Princess
My owner spoils me rotten and brushes me every day. He takes a lot of medications and sometimes he is very sick. I stay by his side and do my best to let him know how much I love him.
Newman
I get my owner outside and exercising. If she forgets to walk me, I bring her shoes out to the living room and lay on them. She credits me as her reason for getting out of bed each day and calls P.A.W.S. people my guardian angels.
Shakespeare
My owner was referred to P.A.W.S. by Mama’s Kitchen. He was sharing his dinners with me. I didn’t understand that he was not eating, so that I could.
Daisy
You probably aren’t surprised my owner refers to me as his child. I am his only family. We love it when the P.A.W.S. volunteer comes by with food and litter.
Mystic Midnight
My owner has a sign above the front door. Hand-written on cut cardboard, in black sharpie, using big, neat letters, it says,
NO MENTAL ILLNESS.
NO HOMELESSNESS.
I give him a sense of responsibility and companionship. In his life, I am the difference between healthy and unhealthy, homeless and at home.
Cleo
My quirky personality keeps my owner laughing. She swears I’m from another planet. I’ll never tell! P.A.W.S. helped her with veterinary funds when I got really sick. Sometimes she calls me by the nickname “Prozac” because I have a calming affect on her.
Mr. Nibbles
I keep my owner busy with all my silly antics. Fortunately, my big eyes and loud purr make me irresistible.  She is constantly saying, “What trouble are you getting into now?”, and she always has stories to tell our P.A.W.S. delivery volunteer.
