Help at the Holidays

I no sooner finished my turkey dinner when the phone rang. Our nieces were calling from Ohio to wish us a happy t-day and to also remind us that Christmas was soon approaching. Not being shy, they began to rattle off a list of things we might consider getting them for the holidays. Gone is the list of endless toys as they've grown into teenagers. Instead, the list is shorter, but the "toys"are more expensive.

Volunteer Month

Most people are probably unaware that October is National Volunteer Month.  At a time in our nation when jobs are scarce for many and nonprofits are feeling the economic hit more than most, many people have stepped up to the plate and are helping others.  Instead of staying home and worrying, people are helping people.  This change in attitude has had a positive effect on those that need help and those that are volunteering.  Even after the economy picks up, which it will, and jobs become readily available, I hope this trend in volunteerism and helping o

July, 2009---The woman you just saw on our homepage holding the large cat was Barbara Moore, a client of P.A.W.S. since 2006.  She and her two cats, Cheesecake and Tiger looked forward to their delivery of pet food and supplies each month by the volunteer driver from P.A.W.S.
